Jumpstart – 40 Doesn’t Always Mean 40

Synopsis

During the Black Death pandemic of the 14th century, Venetian officials refused to allow newly-arriving sailors to disembark for a period of 40 days (“quaranta giorni” in Latin) to make sure no one on board had the plague.

Our word quarantine comes from the Latin word for 40 (quaranta) and, interestingly enough, the number 40 appears over-and-over in the Bible but does NOT mean forty — there is a hidden meaning.

And, this hidden meaning can help our minds relax and be open to our pathway ahead with COVID 19.
