One of the hardest lines for me to read in Beverly Engels book “the emotionally abusive relationship” is that, if you were abused as child, unless you do deep psychological work into the work with someone who understands the abuse cycle, you have no choice but to either
- Get into relationships where you let other abuse you
- Get into relationships where you abuse others
But you can break free and it comes from understanding — yourself, your primary abuser and, more importantly why you always tend to hear neutral comments as negative and negative comments as an all-out attack > > >
