SYNOPSIS
I recently did a speech and before I went on stage I asked the event planner about the keynote speaker they’d hired the previous year.
“He’s a retired US Army colonel,” She said, “And the one thing I remember him saying was, ‘always make your bed.’“
I’ve thought about that a lot since then and it’s actually pretty solid advice.
It’s amazing how that one simple ritual can put us on a positive path for the rest of the day.
How about you? Do you make your bed every morning?
Let’s talk about why this works and how you can apply it to other areas of your life as well.
Be sure to post your questions and comments, I always reply to them personally.
Always make my bed….it sets my tone for the day….i feel finished with sleep on to the day!
I have always made my bed every morning. Not for a some deep all knowing purpose greater than simply my personal preference. I have however found that making my bed (and keeping my house clean and orderly) helps keep my stress levels down. I can’t fully relax if there are dirty dishes, laundry, etc. and if after a long day at work, I walk into my room and find my bed is a mess, it is subtly upsetting. Not enough to ruin my entire day but there is a notable difference when it is made.
Mr. will
I finished 21 days without complaining, but my temper was still very grumpy and I also said some dirty words. Can you tell me if it is like this to finish 21 days without complaining?
I love this. I always had to make my bed as a child and went through years of “whatever” but now I enjoy making it every morning, no matter what.
It is a small thing but very satisfying. I feel better, especially at night when I come to get into it and appreciate the nice lady that took the time and cared enough for me to make it in the morning.
Thanks so much for all your inspiration Will
