Remember the teacher taking attendance in school?

If you were there that day, your response was “present” (although I and the other bratty boys also loved to say “Absent!”).

To be present is to be positive.

And to be negative is to be absent.

To enjoy more and better life we need to spend less time being absent — that is, dwelling on things we feel are lacking.

When we are present, we are grateful, and when we’re grateful the doors of joy open for us bring more to be grateful for.
